Plasma gouging is used in comparison to carbon arc gouging to reduce the amount of noise and debris in the work environment. It can be done freehand, with a mechanical tool like a rail cutter, or on a fully automated CNC cutting table. The plasma system is configured with a dedicated gouging mode of operation that regulates the amount of pressure applied to the torch.
